[interview] Mr.Xerty

Hey Brice, can you introduce yourself ?

Hi, I'm Brice CHAPLET, 24 years old from Paris. Doing graphics attempts under the name of  Mr.Xerty - :NO MASTA Prod:

Why Xerty ?

Well, my pseudo is a geek thing. It cames from the "Azerty" keyboard.

I’ve just put an X to sound more futuristic haha!

How long have you been in this field?

Since 2 years now I'm a freelancer. But before that, I've worked 1 year as a junior graphic designer in a Automotive company.

What studies or training courses did you follow? A university or self-taught designer ?

I've make myself at home. Before being into graphic design world, I was learning Geography at University but after getting my first degree I realised that it was not a big love affair.

Apart from that I've always drew in my teenage years and done graffiti skills or created some flyers design for friends...I reely like the idea to "create" everyday, It was a real passion. So I've decided to practice myself more seriously and make this passion my job.

Which Artists do inspire you ?

Actually I'm really keen on Lowbrow Art which cames from America, or street artists but most of my influences came from what I've seen on the internet

like Mood Swing, Archann Nair or Julien Pacaud...

When design and graphics took a considerable place in your life ? How ?

Since 3 years it's an everyday (and night) activities. It took most of my time.

Can you describe us your creative process ? An specific technique? How long do it take you?

No really specific process because it could be the end of a real creative way to work.

But I can say that I really love to work on background at first and colors & tones to finalise my piece. Love to use collage techniques,

photos and vectors shapes and it takes as long as I'm satisfied with the result!

Where do you take inspiration for your special style ?

Urban life is no doubt my main inspiration. Music, movies and books

Do you use a 3D soft for your digital art works ?

No

When do you gonna udapte your website ? I have seen some previews...

In September I hope

Do you use a graphics tablet ?

Yep, Wacom Bamboo mte 450

What kind of music do you listen to ?

UK music mainly (drum&bass/jungle/dubstep) and Hip-hop and Soul.

Sounds Like Teebee, Alix Perez, Noisia, Roots Manuva or Mos Def

What are you doing when you're not behind your computer ?

Djing, cooking and loving my girlfriend (chérie si tu m'écoute ^^)

You're a MAC boy or a PC boy?

PC boy!

Do you have some projects for the future ?

Actually I've began to work into Press world and hope it will continue.

For the artisitic side, I want to do some other art show and exhibitions.

You have certainly an advice to give to any one?

Trust yourself!
